The apartment is within a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse terrace built at the beginning of the 19th century, just before the formal Regency period.
This is when the once sleepy fishing village, listed in the Domesday book, become an elegant Georgian seaside resort, favoured by princesses and nobility, Jane Austin, Mary Shelly, and later Oscar Wilde (who wrote ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ in Worthing). Other residents have included Harold Pinter, Billy Idol, Keith Emerson and DJ Fresh.
The flat has been lovingly and carefully restored to reflect the elegance and sophisticated charm of the Georgian and Regency period. Its original marble fireplace is complemented by the beautiful floor to ceiling curved bay windows that flood the lounge with light.
The period elegance is matched by modern comfort and convenience. The flat includes a Sonos sound system and Apple TV (with Netflix ready to go), and very high-speed wifi means you can be as connected as you want. Oak parquet flooring runs right through the lounge, bedroom, hall and kitchen, and the bathroom has a walk-in rainfall shower, quirky swan-neck tap, and a lavatory with built-in bidet. The moment you step inside the apartment you will fall in love.

Turn right from the building’s front door and you are 90 meters from the beach and 130 meters from Worthing Pier and the Pavilion Theatre. Turn left and you’re 100 meters from the pedestrianised Warwick Street and its bars, cafes, restaurants and curio shops. Supermarkets and convenience stores are also a short stroll away, as is a multi-storey car park.
Worthing beach extends for miles and is popular for paddle boarding and wind surfing. The head of the beach is shingle, while low tide uncovers sand flats and rock pools.
Steyne Gardens is just along the sea front. This is a green space that hosts many events throughout the year, from a seasonal ice skating rink each winter to open-air concerts, craft fairs, classic car shows, and more. Just beyond this is Splash Point Leisure Centre, mini golf, and Gull Island playground. Adjacent to this is the Beach House car park and ornamental gardens, and the award-winning Egremont pub.
In the other direction are the Worthing Lido and Promenade, which hosts regular seafront craft fairs and funfairs. There is also the Cellar Arts Club, Worthing Arts Collective, numerous bars and restaurants including the Hollywood Bowl bowling alley and diner, and a lengthy pedestrianised shopping precinct.
Despite its highly central location with all these amenities on hand, Bedford Row itself is a relatively quiet street and the flat is a peaceful haven.
